Rebuilding and Maintenance of Oilfield Irons Swivels & Loop

Rebuilding and Maintenance of Oilfield Irons and Valves

The rebuilding process begins with a comprehensive inspection to determine the condition of the equipment and identify damaged or worn components. Visual inspection is conducted to detect external defects such as cracks, dents, corrosion, thread damage, and mechanical deformation. Where necessary, Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) methods such as Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI), Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT), Ultrasonic Testing (UT), or Visual Testing (VT) are employed to identify hidden defects that may compromise equipment integrity.

Following inspection, the equipment is carefully dismantled, and each component is cleaned to remove grease, dirt, rust, drilling fluids, and other contaminants. Cleaning allows technicians to accurately assess the condition of every part before repair or replacement. Components that exceed acceptable wear limits are either repaired through precision machining or replaced with manufacturer-approved parts.

Particular attention is given to sealing surfaces, threads, bearings, elastomers, and pressure-retaining components, as these directly influence the safety and performance of the equipment. Once repairs have been completed, all components are reassembled according to manufacturer specifications using calibrated tools and recommended torque values.

The final stage involves hydrostatic pressure testing to verify that the rebuilt equipment can safely withstand its rated working pressure without leakage or structural failure. Only equipment that successfully passes all inspection and testing requirements is certified for return to service.
